Metaphors are such darling things.
I remember many years ago when it became popular to quote Forrest Gump: “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.” Unless of course one follows the guide provided by the box’s maker.
Either way, I thought I should come up with some fun metaphors too. Don’t think too hard about them; I certainly didn’t. I’m not trying to say that any of them are actually deep; I just wanted them to sound deep. (Like Forrest’s.)
Also, just to be clear, I know the difference between metaphors and similes. All simile’s are metaphors though, the way all Dobermans are Dogs. This is why we talk about metaphorical language even when talking about similes, and not similisical language. (And yes, I just made up that word. There is a word “similative,” which is from the same root, but not otherwise connected.)
